Subco Engineering is a dynamic engineering design company specialising in offering flexible fixed scope workpacks to help our clients with their fluctuating engineering resource demands.
Subco has a unique operating model, which allows for quick adjustments to project scopes, offering clients unparalleled flexibility. Work can be started, paused and stopped at anypoint depending on the project demand.
Scope Clarity
Subco monitors the progress of the workpack so the client doesn’t have to. The status of each workpack can be seen in our real-time client portal, giving our client full visibility of the work we complete.
Subco works with the client to define the workpack, generate a work breakdown structure and produce a fixed price quotation for the work.
Productive and Efficient
Subco’s process-driven approach ensures efficient utilisation of engineering resources, reducing wastage of time and effort. We aim to operate with an “every-hour productive” mentality.

Subco Engineering is a small startup with big ambitions, dedicated to engineering superior solutions for companies to flexibly scale their engineering teams.
Subco Engineering was founded by Martin Reynolds, Richard Ward and Joe Hinchliffe, leveraging their extensive collective industry experience of over 35 years in managing multi-million pound marine and offshore projects. Their first-hand experience in project delivery has highlighted the critical importance of high-quality temporary engineering resources in determining the success or failure of a project.
Richard Ward's experience in managing complex, high-value engineering contracts, has equipped him with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and navigate the intricate processes of design, manufacture, and delivery. His hands-on experience with mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and control engineering, coupled with client interface management, provides him with a holistic view of the engineering process from conception to execution.
Martin Reynolds brings to the table strategic prowess in the offshore energy sector. His authoritative knowledge in handling systems such as A-Frames, deck systems, and winches has proven critical for numerous multi-million pound offshore and vessel projects. Martin's dual expertise in both technical and sales aspects of engineering—garnered from proposal creation to R&D for product enhancement—enables him to drive innovation while securing new ventures.
Joe is a founding member of Subco Engineering and a Chartered Engineer known for his commercial acumen and strategic insight. With extensive industry experience, Joe has a deep understanding of the commercial demands involved in bidding, executing, and delivering multi-million-pound projects in the offshore energy sector. His blend of technical expertise and sales prowess has been instrumental in defining Subco’s approach to solving complex engineering challenges with innovative, high-impact solutions.
